I am directed by His Excellency the

Governor to inform you that the Secretary of State for the

Colonies has approved of your temporary engagement, in the event

of your return to Hongkong next year, to index the Library in

the Council Chamber and revise the system by which documents are

recorded and filed in this Office. Should you undertake this

task, a honorarium of £100 will be paid to you on its completion.
